Edisto Beach is one of the few remaining family friendly, relatively undeveloped beaches on the coastline of South Carolina. The 4.5 miles of uncrowded, pristine beach are dotted with beach houses, but no hotels or motels. For generations, families have escaped to Edisto Beach, just 45 minutes from historic Charleston. Easy access to the area's shell-rich beach gives visitors opportunities for boating, fishing, crabbing, shrimping, kayaking, bird-watching, or just lounging by the surf. The island is best known for its natural beauty and laid-back lifestyle, giving visitors a chance to enjoy the slower pace of days gone by. Free parking for the beach is available at the public beach access points, or visitors can pay to park at Edisto Beach State Park.

Edisto Beach Rules and Regulations


  • No Glass Containers
  • No Bon fires
  • No Littering
  • No vehicles allowed on beach
  • No motorized water craft on the beach
  • No sailboats on the dunes
  • Stay off sand dunes
  • No dogs off leash May 1 thru Oct 31 and owners must cleanup pet excrement
  • No leaving holes on beach or holes greater than 12 inches in depth
  • No Disturbing, damaging, trampling or removing vegetation that stabilizes dunes

What: 5th Annual Cookin' on the Creek BBQ Festival
When: Oct. 11-12, 2024
Time: Fri. 6 pm - 10 pm / Sat. 11 am - 4 pm
Where: Bay Creek Park
Admission: $5 Admission

Cookin' on the Creek is a SC BBQ Association sanctioned event that will feature Cody Webb and his band on Friday night, BBQ sampling and more. Saturday will also have music, food and festivities


What: Edisto Beach Fall Festival & Turtle Tide Action
When: Oct. 12, 2024
Time: 11 am - 4 pm
Where: The dirt parking lot between Jungle Rd. Plaza and Food Lion/McConkeys
Admission: Free

Edisto Beach Fall Festival features arts, crafts, baked goods, and business sponsors. This is our annual event for all to enjoy our vendors and of course, the Turtle Tide Art Auction, where we auction off the 10 painted turtles from the Edisto Turtle Tide Art Project.

Happening on October 12th from 11 am to 4 pm. Stop by and check out all of the wonderful vendors Edisto has to offer!

The 3rd-Turtle Tide Art Auction will also be held during the Fall Festival at 2 pm. Each of our ten painted turtles from our Edisto Turtle Tide Art Project will be auctioned off to raise money for each turtle’s designated non-profit!
